BLOCK MC & ALL-STAR FORMS
Our district mission statement states that we will strive " To be a quality educational system providing the opportunity for all students to reach their potential in mind, body, and spirit." We believe that learning takes place both in and out of the classroom and that all students can find success. Below is a brief description of programs offered at Mickey Cox for students to get involved in throughout the year.
All students in grades 4, 5, and 6 may sing in the school choral program. Selected students are invited to sing in the Mickey Cox Concert Choir.
Students in grades 5 and 6 are encouraged to participate in the instrumental music program. A limited variety of school owned instruments are available. Some parents may opt to rent or purchase instruments for their children.
All students in grades 4, 5, and 6 may try out for the school drama production. Students involved in the play must commit to attending all practices unless excused by the advisor.
All students in grades 4, 5, and 6 may try out for oral interpretation. Students involved in oral interpretation must commit to attending all practices unless excused by the advisor. Students involved in the Oral Interpretation program present programs for the school and compete at the Annual C.U.S.D. Festival.
INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC PROGRAM
Mickey Cox Elementary provides an interscholastic athletic program in which our teams compete with other elementary schools in the district. The goals of our athletic program are, 1) to teach and develop proficiency in the skills associated with each sport, 2) to develop the personal qualities of discipline, commitment, and sportsmanship associated with being a member of a team. The sports and their seasons are as follows:

The students at Mickey Cox learn the fundamentals of student government through the student council. Each semester, the students elect the following officers:
Commissioner of Grounds
Commissioner of Athletics
D.I. is a program that nurtures creative thought and teamwork.Teams of up to 7 students work on a long-term problem of their choice for approximately 2 1/2 months and are given an Instant Challenge on the day of the Regional competition. They learn how to problem solve and work together as a team without any adult assistance. The solution to the team's problem is entirely created by the team.Mickey Cox Teams have been very successful. Many have gone on to the State level of competition and one team advanced to the National level in 2008.
C.A.F.E. club (Children and Friends in Education)
C.A.F.E is a club that promotes diversity and cultural awareness. Any student in grades 1-6 can participate in the monthly activities. Officers are chosen each semester and students can earn Block M.C. points for participating in the club and for serving as an officer.
Pep and Cheer
All students in grades 5 and 6 may tryout for the Pep and Cheer teams. Becoming a member of the Pep and Cheer program requires a tremendous amount of time, dedication, responsibility, and spirit throughout the year. Students involved must attend practices every week, perform at rallies, attend Pep and Cheer camp, Football Carnival, CHS Elementary Football Night, Drug Free Night, Spirit Night and the CWH Showcase.
